The NFL Draft is fast approaching, what areas do you think the Patriots should concentrate on in the draft? What players would you like to see the go for?

I think that we were weak at Safety last year. Otherwise our WR core could use a shot in the arm. The right person might give Brady more numbers.

You're somewhat right that receiver was a weak spot on the team last year but with the FA pickups of Stallworth, Washington, and Welker and considering Brady tends to make receivers much better than they are I think we have a pretty solid core right now. I'd be suprised to see them take a receiver (especially early).

well maybe not early. I am not sure what they would take right now.

Well here we go, the draft starts in under an hour. This thread can be used for ALL draft related posts. I guess the first question is who will the raiders take with the #1 pick. Calvin Johnson or Jamarcus Russel?

My opinion is that they should take Russel because they are in dire need of a legitimate QB but I think they will take Johnson because it would be hard for any team to pass on him especially a team like the Raiders who seem to be drawn to flashy wideouts.

Brady Quinn is dropping like a stone. Who do you think will pick him now? They were almost certain that he would be the Dolphins pick!

I can't believe that Brady Quinn fell to the Phins at #9 AND THEY PASSED ON HIM! Things just got a lot easier for us than I expected them to be in the future.

San Fran won't be taking Quinn but JP Lossman still hasn't cemented himself as the future QB in Buffalo and they are up next. He could still end up playing in the AFC East. If Buffalo passes on him he could possibly drop to the 2nd round.

Jets trade up to take CB Revis. A potential shut down corner in the hands of a Belichick alumni...


Quinn is still on the board I'm gonna say he's either going to Jacksonville, Chicago, or Baltimore. if he doesn't fall to the 2nd round.

Giants are next on the clock. Who'll they pick? Quinn is losing money minute by minute. he started at 25 million, then he was down to 15 million. now he's losing 1.5 million each pick he gets passed on.

I am also speaking with my Uncle so I will try to get any insights that he shares with me. Megahurtz should know which Uncle I mean!

With the 24th pick in the draft the Patriots select Brandon Meriwether. I actually had us taking him with the 28th pick but all in all not a big surprise they went with him. He's extremely disciplined when it come to sticking to his assignment which fits the Pats system perfectly.

Brady Quinn ended up with the Browns. Does the fact that they would have taken him earlier but didn't factor in as a bargaining chip for him in regards to salary?
